Star Award Saturdays: Alison Handy Twang

Every week at our staff meeting we give out a Star Award for going above and beyond! This past week the Star Award went to Alison Handy Twang for doing an awesome job as our new Interim Assistant Director. Alison started out as a graduate assistant in the CCE a few years ago, she then went on to work in nonprofits before joining the CCE as professional staff last summer.
"Working at the Center for Civic Engagement gives me the opportunity to work with passionate, committed students everyday. As Interim Assistant Director, my role is to support students in their efforts to engage with the community to create positive change. Our work at CCE recognizes the value of both students and community members, and encourages strong partnerships between the campus and larger community. We focus on empowering students to use their strengths and passion to work toward positive social change, and encourage them to think about civic engagement in new ways.
One of my favorite things about working at CCE is meeting with students and helping them identify opportunities that are most meaningful to them. There are so many ways to be civically engaged, from academic service learning, to political engagement, to volunteerism. It is rewarding to watch students grow through these experiences, and know that they are not only contributing to positive change now, they are preparing themselves for a future as active, engaged citizens." ‪#‎CCEAllStars‬ ‪#‎StarAwardSaturday‬
